Depending on the conditions, or what you’re looking to target, we have a few different spots where we go to fish.
Take a look at our usual fishing grounds below:
If you caught some fish and you would like to bring it with you, no problemo!
The boat crew will take it (and you) to the Marina Fillet Station. The cost is between $3-$5 USD a fish. You can take the fish with you and bring it to the restaurant of your choice or cook it up yourself.
If you want to bring the fish back to the States, you bring the fish back to our office and we vacuum seal and freeze it at no additional cost. To bring the fish on the airplane, it has to be fully frozen and in an airline approved box or a cooler.
A good starting point for a Fishing Charter is 10%, however in many cases, with multiple fish caught, the average effort is higher and deserving of more.
There is always something to catch here in Cabo, it just depends on what you’re looking for.
Take a look at our Fishing Calendar below to see what is in season throughout the year.
We do not have a program to match anglers that are looking to share a boat. If you would like to find someone to split the cost, our recommendation would be to ask around where you are staying.
Yes, we recommend booking a half day. You will depart when you get here, usually around 8:30 am. You will be back at the marina at around 1:30 pm. You can come back earlier depending on the time you have to be back.
If you would like to talk to a member of Team Mar Vida, we would be happy to answer any questions you have. You can reach us from the US at 760-481-7667 or while in Cabo San Lucas at our local number 624-172-0085. You can also send us an email to info@redrumcabo.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We hired Redrum for a full day of fishing the Monday before the recent storm. We set off early, eventually catching 9 mahi-mahi before 11:00 a.m. we then... read more went out further, but got no bites on bigger fish. Regardless, Juan and Jesus were excellent and we had a great experience.
16 de October de 2021This will sound fake, but it’s true. We booked a full day on Runnin with RedRum Sportsfishing. Myself and another couple were celebrating my wife’s 40th Bday.
After... read more loading the boat with Mahi and Makerel, Capt. Juan asked if we wanted to hunt for Marlin. We were ready. My wife caught a 99” 130 lbs Striped Marlin on her 40th Bday!!!!! Words cannot describe how impressed everyone was with 1st-Mate Jesus & Capt. Juan.
So impressed, my buddy told me that he checked with Capt. Juan and they had a cancellation two days later. He said, “I don’t know what you’re doing on Sat, but I’m coming back to this boat!”
We did go back on that boat! My buddy hooked a 99” 130 lbs Striped Marlin! 3 minutes after he he sat in the chair, Juan hooked another off the bow, and Jesus was putting a belt on me! WE GOT A DOUBLE!!!! Mine was 101” 150 lbs. Jesus coached me through the whole thing!
This was literally 2 of the greatest days of our lives. We actually got emotional when we hugged Juan and Jesus goodbye!!! Those two dudes are at the TOP OF THEIR GAME.. and certified BAMFs!!!!!! We will be coming back with more friends!!!
7 de December de 2021Cabo is 'the billfish capital of the world' and there is NO shortage of choices of folks hawking their skills to take you offshore to hook a few. This is... read more exactly the reason that you go with a trusted and reliable captain and company.
The RedRum group was highly recommended by a family friend and he could not have been more spot on.
Toby, one of the owners, is a joy to work with and he put us in the extremely capable hands of Captain Juan and 1st Mate Jesus on the Rumrunner.
The word in town was 'the bite had been slow' over the past few days, so we were privately concerned that our day would be something of a bust.
We were very wrong.
Capt. Juan knew right where to go and Jesus had all elements in place so we were trolling the moment the engines slowed.
When our first stop was not producing, lines came in and we were gunning to the next location, this time with dolphin escorting us off our bow for much of the way.
Lines hit the Rumrunner's wake a mile or more from where a dozen or more other craft were clustered up together. I admit that I was wondering to myself 'Why the hell aren't we over there'? Well, I will never know if any of those boats were successful, but Juan had a beautiful striped Martin on the line within 5 minutes. This fellow gave me a brilliant battle, complete with long runs and stunning aerials, for 45 tiring minutes. Adding to the scene, a pod of humpback whales frolicked a hundred or so yards off our starboard cheering one of us on. One of these behemoths seemed to take on the role of cheerleader as they rolled to the side several times and waved his massive pectoral fin in the air a dozen or more times.
The guys hoisted the tired marlin over the gunnel with care ... my first marlin and close to 9 feet .. a few pictures and she was back in the sea in under 4 minutes.
My wife was next in the chair less than 30 minutes later, fighting her own fish. Before Jesus could even pull in the remaining lines, 2 more marlin were on. I took one rod with a rod belt, while the circle hook rig allowed us to let the third fish to drop off on his own accord.
The skill and wisdom of the crew directed both of us in landing both our fish without tangling lines.
By the time I landed my third of the day, this one pushing well past 10', we were exhausted and blissfully happy.
In short, an amazing day with the finest crew thanks to an outstanding company that has been doing this for 30 years
I cannot recommend RedRum fishing charters highly enough.

We were pleased even on our zero day. We had very high & rough seas which likely affected our catch but it was still a blast. As they say, “it’s not catching, it’s fishing!” The entire staff worked to make our time special.
